Chambas, land of festivities, is located northwest of the Ciego de Ávila, between 78º 42' and 79º, 04' west longitude and 22º 24' north latitude, with an area of 770.08 square kilometers. The municipality has a favorable geographical position for its development. It has maritime borders to the north and is relatively close to the provincial capital and the head of several of its municipalities, as well as the neighboring province of Sancti Spíritus. It limits to the north with the Bahamas` Canal Viejo, to the south with the Florencia municipality, to the east with the Morón municipality, to the southeast with the Ciro Redondo municipality and to the west with Mayajigüa, Yagüajay municipality, Sancti Spíritus province, being the demarcation line of both municipalities, the Jatibonico del Norte River.
The municipality is made up of seven Popular Councils and two non-council constituencies.
